'Rocking' placements?
Prologue:
Hmm.. a couple of days ago, in one of my reveries during a class on fertiliser subsidies in economics, i dreamt that IIM Ahmedabad was gonna be completely razed to the ground on the eve of final placements by some weird force of nature or watever.
Today:
An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the richter scale shook IIMA 2 hours ago.
Final placements is tomoro morning. "dream coming true"?? hasn't happened to me before..
God forbid, there has been no damage done, but things really are lookin like placements is gonna be rockin' tomoro!
Anyway, life here is well and truly back to normal within an hour of the earthquake, and people are back to wrapping up their SFI, Marketing and OM submissions all of which are due in the next 48 hours.
And i hav volunteered for placecomm work for day zero (which is tomoro and day after), and am really lookin forward to it.
These guys, the seniors, have been here 2 whole years. Its been one helluva fast ride and a rather bumpy one at that for sure... and tomorrow morning - in less than 5 hours from now - these fresh products from IIM Ahmedabad are gonna be facing the likes of Mckinsey, Boston Consulting, Bain, and the age old list of traditional day zero companies... With 2 years of management education behind them, tryin to make certain for themselves wat lies ahead..
In what CAN be called the biggest thing in Indian placements, i really am excited about PR-ing for one of these companies tomoro, and kinda get the bird's eye view on what day after's education plus wil write about.
Good Luck tucchas! Go Rock placements 2006!
Epilogue: (not strictly one)
Spoke to Arun (my cousin in the US) over the fone now.. we spoke about how we have all drifted apart and none of us (Arun, I, divya, vinu...) could be in chennai to attend dear ol' gangleader Raji's marriage a couple of days back. Got me totally senti. Missing home and my people...
