A sullen shobana sittin by a temple pond.
A simply clad rajni clims down all the steps.
Says "enakku theriyum. idhelaam unakku pudikkaadhu... unnavida rendu vayasu kammi. andha ponnukku. kondu poyi lockup-la vechirundhaanga. raathri ellaam. oru sub inspector naalu constable. padhinanju vayasu ponnu.adutha naaL velila vittaanga. ava veettukku ponaa. eduthaa podavaiya. maattikkittaa. poNam....."
"indha surya apdidhaan..."
faint strains on the bells there. no other music.
shobana starts crying.
rajni: "enna aachu? yen aLugara? kekkaren illa? YEN aLugara?.. pudikkaliyaa.. indha maadhiri aaLu.. adi dhadi aaLu.. pudikkala... inga paaru..(lifts her face holding her chin).. pinna enna"
shobana says "pudichirukku" (what an expression on that face!!!)
one simple, short and absolutely delightful phrase on the flute.
rajni: "adhukkedhukku azhara".
shobana: "therila".
and puts her head on his lap. in one quick motion.
temple bells ring. fade out to long shot.
the song... Sundari, kannaal oru sedhi...

the first time their eyes meet outside on the stairs, ilayaraja kammanaati would have played sundari kannaal oru sedhi on violin da.. whoever the violinist was, GOD BLESS HIM!!

naan nenachen - nee sollitta - enna da antha violin...thaa - bliss! scintillating stuff...enna poignant - actually what wud hav gone thru her mind da...cha evlo paavam da antha kaadhalan...pity for the girl too.
back on "track"...happy mood la violins - "kaadhal kavidhaigal padithidum neram..." - pedal da and the same in "andha naal nyaaabagam..." - pedal max violin da...among the happiest pieces i ve ever listened to from the thala - both.
